THINAKKURAL
Remarks at a Bharatnatyam dance troupe led by Smt. Radhika Shurajit performed during the annual festival of Nallur Kandasamy Temple
Every year since 2011, during the annual festival of Nallur Kandasamy Temple, the Government of India has been sending a cultural troupe to perform at the Nallur Temple. Similarly, this year also a Bharatnatyam dance troupe led by Smt. Radhika Shurajit performed at Nallur. The Consulate has also organized a cultural performance by Radhika’s troupe for the first time, in Delft Island for the people of Delft Islanders. While speaking at the Nallur Festival, A. Natarajan, Consul-General of India in Jaffna said that India would extend its full support for the development of unique art forms of Tamils. He added that the Government of India, through the Government of Sri Lanka, would channel its dedicated contribution to further promote the rare art forms in the war affected Northern Province. People should not assume that sorrow is the only thing in our life. By listening to good music, we can soothe our life and our surroundings. Unfortunately, same time, we do not dedicate any time for listening to good music and watching dance performances. At times, we are not willing to dedicate our time for these things. We should link ourselves with music and dance to make our life more happier, Mr. Natarajan said. Lord Murugan grants booms to devotees who visit Nallur Temple from all over the globe. Even Europeans visit the temple. One should be fortunate to live in Jaffna at the abode of Lord Murugan. In that way, I am also lucky to live in Jaffna, Mr. Natarajan said.
