Remarks at the Launch of Music Tracks of the Jaffna Film ‘Chandiyan’
All in the Northern Province have been living the life of the hero, said Mr.A.Natarajan, the Consul-General of India in Jaffna. The music tracks of the film Chandian by the Lankan director Kavimaran Siva was launched at a function held at Saraswathy Hall Jaffna, recently. Mr.Natarajan was the chief guest of the event. Many people speak about the war in the North and East when they deliver speeches. The people who visit from India wish to know the present situation of the Tamil living here. I have seen many people feeling highly worried and empathetic after listening to the traumatic stories of the war. I have been witnessing disciplined and cultured lives of many people in Sri Lanka, especially that of North. I am not telling this to get your applause. This statement is based on my presence in Jaffna for some time. Though India is geographically bigger than Sri Lanka, the culture of the people of North is better. We have to learn many things from you. The film industry of North is developing and has been witnessing many changes with new directors coming to the field. The number of full-fledged films from Jaffna has gone up. When new films are produced, ideas to revitalize the society must be included in the story. They should try to eradicate the crimes and injustices prevailing in the society. By doing this the society could be channeled in a proper way.
