Fish have no boundaries. It will go wherever it likes but we are seeking to create boundaries to our fishing folks, said Mr.Natarajan, the Consul General of India in Jaffna.

    The fraternity between Indian and Sri Lankan fishermen should be enhanced. There is no place in the world without “problems”. There are problems in every home and every country. They can be solved by dialogues. He made this remarks while delivering a speech at the function to celebrate the International Fishermen’s Day organized by National Fishermen’s Cooperative.

    We should not have the word ‘problem' among us. Fishermen of India and Sri Lanka should mingle with each other with fraternity. We should build up mutual trust. Trust will get us a good life. We have been carrying on the talks based on this trust.

    Fish doesn’t know boundaries. If it does, it will not cross borders. But we are looking for borders for the fishermen.

    Only talks can bring solutions to problems. Even if there is no solution to the problem of Indian and Sri Lankan fishermen today, there will be a solution one day.  Meanwhile, we would like to reiterate that the method of bottom trawling fishing must be abandoned by fishermen.
