Peaceful and happy life of Tamils is the desire of Indian government. Because of this the Indian government is providing assistance to the people of North, said Mr.A.Natarajan, the Consul General of India in Jaffna. He added that the Indian government has given several aid programs to the development of the Northern health sector and will continue its contribution to the people of the North. He made these remarks at the function to open the Primary Healthcare Centre at Main Street, Jaffna, which was renovated by Indian Oil Cooperation.  An extract of the speech he delivered is given below.

    Peaceful and happy life of the people of North is the desire of the Indian government. India has been implementing Health Sector development programs in Sri Lanka for a long time. It has been implementing several health programs especially in the Northern part of Sri Lanka where Tamils live.

    The Indian government has also donated medical equipment to Jaffna Teaching hospital. Similarly, it has assisted other hospitals in the North. The buildings constructed by the Indian government at Vavuniya hospital is to be opened very soon.
