352 Beneficiaries Receive Artificial Limbs in Jaffna through the Jaipur Foot Artificial Limb Fitment Camp
- 1. The Consulate General of India in Jaffna, in collaboration with Bhagwan Mahaveer Viklang Sahayata Samiti (BMVSS)/Jaipur Foot India, successfully organized an artificial limb fitment camp from 4th to 19th June 2024 at the District Management Skill Development Training Centre, Old Park Road, Jaffna. This initiative resulted in the fitting of 366 artificial limbs to 352 beneficiaries in the Northern Province, significantly enhancing their mobility and quality of life. The closing ceremony of the event was attended by Consul General Shri. Sai Murali and NP Governor P.S.M. Charles.
- 2. Consul General Shri. Sai Murali, during the closing ceremony, expressed India's pride in supporting its neighbors through the Jaipur Foot initiative. He highlighted that a total of 1036 limbs have been fitted to 1003 beneficiaries across Sri Lanka since the launch of the Jaipur Foot Artificial Limb Fitment Camp on 7th May in Colombo.
- 3.The camp is supported by the Government of India and conducted by the Indian NGO Bhagwan Mahaveer Viklang Sahayata Samiti (BMVSS), which is dedicated to the physical and socio-economic rehabilitation of the physically disabled.
- 4. This initiative was organized with the support of the Offices of the Chief Secretary, Northern Province, and the Ministry of Women's Affairs and Social Service.
