School students enthusiastically participate in Yoga day event organised at Kayts by Consulate General of India, Jaffna

1. 1. In the run-up to the International Day of Yoga, the Consulate General of India in Jaffna organised a Yoga Day event at the Kayts Divisional Secretariat on 5th June. The event was graced by Consul General Shri Sai Murali as the Chief Guest, along with Kayts Divisional Secretary Manjula Devi, District Cultural Officer Krishna Kumar, officials from the Consulate, the DS office, and members of the general public.

3. 2. During the inauguration of the event, Consul General Shri Sai Murali highlighted the significance of organising a Yoga event for the first time in Kayts. He emphasized the Consulate's commitment to extending cultural support beyond Yoga. Consul General also expressed his gratitude to the Divisional Secretary for facilitating the event arrangements.

In her speech, Divisional Secretary Manjula Devi outlined the numerous benefits of Yoga and expressed her gratitude to Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi for his efforts in internationalizing Yoga and establishing 21st June as World Yoga Day. District Cultural Officer Krishna Kumar also addressed the gathering, speaking about the spiritual and mental benefits of practicing Yoga.

7. 4. The event featured a Yoga demonstration conducted by District Cultural Officer Krishna Kumar, in which around 60 students from three schools, all under the age of 15, actively participated. The students performed various asanas to perfection, showcasing their dedication and enthusiasm for Yoga.
