Gandhi Jayanti celebrations- 2023
1. On the occasion of Gandhi Jayanti (02 Oct), the Consulate General of India in Jaffna celebrated the 154th birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi. Consul General Shri. Raakesh Natraj garlanded and paid floral tributes to Mahatma Gandhi at the Gandhi statue in Ariyalai and Cargills Square, Jaffna.
2. Northern Provincial Council Chairman C.V.K. Sivagnanam, Government Agent of Jaffna Shri. A. Sivabalasundran, Municipal Commissioner Shri. T. Jeyaseelan, Vice Chancellor of University of Jaffna Prof. Sivakolunthu Srisatkunarajah, Secretary of Ministry of Education NP Patrick Diranjan, Deputy Director of Jaffna Teaching Hospital Dr. Sathiyamoorthy, President of Sivapoomi Trust Dr. Aru Thirumurugan, Assistant Secretary of Ahila Ilangai Gandhi Sewa Sangam M. Santhan Sathyakirthi, members of the organisation, religious leaders and other dignataries garlanded the Gandhi Statue.
3. The Consul General will also participate in the prize distribution ceremony organized by Thambatti Gandhiji Nadaga Mandram to be held at Thambatti Muthumariamman Temple community hall on 03 Oct (1000 hrs) distributing prizes and certificates to students who had participated and won in the elocution, essay and poetry on Mahatma Gandhi.
