INDEPENDENCE DAY CELEBRATIONS- 2023

1. The Consulate General of India celebrated the 77th Independence Day of India (15 August, 2023) with Consul General Sh. Raakesh Natraj and Major General S R K Hettiarachchi RWP RSP VSV USP, Security Forces Commander (Jaffna) paying floral respects at the IPKF Memorial in Palaly, Jaffna. Following this, Consul General hoisted the Indian flag at a function at the Consulate followed by rendering of the National Anthem by the officials of the Consulate and the Indian community. Consul General of India read the Hon’ble Indian President Smt. Droupadi Murmu's address to the Nation on the eve of Independence Day

2. About 125 people, including Indian citizens, Persons of Indian Origin, journalists from local media, among others participated in the event.
