Celebration of 72nd Republic Day of India in Jaffna

1. The Consulate General of India celebrated the 72nd Republic Day of India this morning (26 January, 2021) with Consul General Balachandran hoisting the Indian flag at a function at the Consulate and reading out the message of the President of India. The students of the music class of the India Corner of the Consulate led by its teacher Mrs. Vachaspathy and Border Security Force personnel rendered patriotic songs on the occasion. Over 100 people, including the Consulate officials and their family members, Indian citizens, persons of Indian origin, friends of India and media participated in the function. The function was celebrated respecting the local Covid-19 health guidelines. Earlier, this morning, Consul General Balachandran and Security Forces Commander(J) Major General Priyantha Perera paid respects at the IPKF Memorial in Palaly by laying a wreath.
