AWARD OF SCHOLARSHIPS FOR UNDER GRADUATE, POST- GRADUATE AND RESEARCH/PHD SCHOLARSHIPS FOR STUDYING IN INDIA

 

Government of India every year offers 290 scholarships to eligible Sri Lankan  students for studying in some of the leading universities in India which includes scholarships for undergraduate, post-graduate and research/PhD scholarships:

2.         Twenty Four candidates from Northern Province have been selected for the above scholarships  for  this year.    Out of the 24 students from Northern Province,  13 students or more than 50 per cent have been selected to undertake post-graduate (PhD) three year course.  It would be pertinent to mention that under SAARC/Fellowship Scholarships and Commonwealth Scholarship Fellowship Plan in total there are 7 scholarship slots allocated to Sri Lanka for post-graduate (PhD) and all these slots, have been allocated to candidates from Northern Province.     

 

3.         The Government of India selects meritorious Sri Lankan nationals for award of these scholarships. Selection of candidates is done in consultation with the Ministry of Higher Education, Government of Sri Lanka.

 

4.         All scholarships cover full tuition fees for the entire duration of the course, in addition to a monthly sustenance allowance. The scholarship also covers accommodation allowance and an annual grant for books, stationary. Besides, all ICCR scholars in India are provided full healthcare facilities, air fare to the nearest destination in India and an annual grant for educational tours to various parts of the country, apart from several other auxiliary benefits.
