134th Birth Anniversary of Mahakavi Subramaniya Bharathi
The Consulate General of India in Jaffna, in association with the Amuthasurabhi Kala Mandram celebrated the 134th Birth Anniversary of the Tamil Poet, Reformer and Freedom fighter, Mahakavi Subramaniya Bharathi on Sunday, December 11, 2016 at 4 PM at Thurkadevi Mani Mandapam, Nallur, Jaffna.

Natarajan, Consul-General of India, Shri Nellai Kannan, Tamil Speaker from TamilNadu, Hon’ble Mavai Senathirajah, Member of Parliament, Hon’ble C.V.K.Sivagnanam, Chairman, NPC, Hon’ble Ponnuthurai Ayngaranesan, Minister of Agriculture, Northern Provincial Council, Hon’ble S.Thavarajah, Leader of Opposition, NPC, Mr. N. Vethanayagan, Government Agent, Jaffna and Prof. T.Velnampy and Teachers and School children paid homage to the Bharathy Statue located at Arasady Junction Nallur. School children recited songs (Tamil Moli Valththu) written by Mahakavi Subramaniya Bharathiyar.
3. A separate event was organized at Thurkadevi Mani Mandapam, Nallur. On this occasion, Mr. Nellai Kannan, a great Tamil Scholar and a prolific Speaker from Tamil Nadu presented an Oration on Mahakavi Subramaniya Bharathiyar.
4. A musical performance on Mahakavi Bharathi poems presented by local artistes.
5. The jam-packed programme was attended by the educationalists, intellectuals, national political leaders, art lovers, students, etc.
